An open letter to City of Los Angeles Public Works employees in the Bureau of Street Services.
An open letter to my fellow Bureau of Street Services & Public Works employees,
As BSS employees, we have a duty to empower ourselves and to protect s our bureau from any takeover or shortchanging.
Effective IMMEDIATELY; all employees in the bureau shall notify the public of the real reason their streets are not repaired, the Council member picks the streets in their district that get done normally based on campaign contributions, Taxpayers need to know this!
Our director needs our back, we need to circle the wagons and make sure we fight the fight alongside him.
I will not allow our working conditions to change for the betterment of the Council who shortchanges us every chance they get; we sweep, repair, and resurface an area of 465 square miles in the City of LA,
It’s time we get our due, along with Street Tree responsible for one of the largest urban forests in the world, and Sanitation who services nearly 3/4 of a million homes and over half a million apartments Every Week!
We handle the Storm water and Sewer systems serving nearly 4 Million People!
Understaffed, Furloughed, demoralized, yet we show up everyday and we do our jobs, we do them so well we do not miss a beat and take a second out to see how good a job we do
We make life live able for nearly 4 million people every single day, and for this thankless job we earn a good living, we occasionally get recognition from the public, but we don’t recognize ourselves how important the services we provide are, without us the City of Los Angeles CAN NOT function.
From the Harbor to the Valley We get it done!
It’s time we remind those who take us for granted just how important we are, to my fellow brothers and sisters working hard everyday in Public Works, Thank You!
Keep your head up, We WILL BE victorious in this fight.
