RT @lacityworkers Los Angeles Layoffs & Furloughs Begin Today. | LA City Workers.com – City of LA .. http://bit.ly/bJO7Oe

Los Angeles. July01, 2010

City leaders have moved forward with a layoff and furlough plan.

What this means.

Eaa Members are not under contract and remain in bargaining.

SEIU MOU 08 & 17 members are still in bargaining.

Members of the Coalition of City Unions Will Begin a 26 day furlough plan.

General Services Police are EXEMPT.

Most of the Department of Public Works Sanitation Bureau is Exempt.

Raises will be moved forward by 1 Year for Coalition members.

All Civilian Members of LACERS will begin paying 1% more for the E.R.I.P. repayment plan.

Furloughs will be either none, 16 or 26 days per fiscal year.

Employees who are in Public Safety or specially funded positions will get no time off.

Employees who are in the general fund and part of the Coalition will get 26 days off.

Employees who are generally funded and part of any other union will receive 16 furlough days per year.

Increased Furlough days and further layoffs are dependant upon two things, the budget and the membership participation to fight the furloughs.

Job Actions and work to rule will be pivotal in convincing the council to cease these actions.

Without overwhelming participation from the members furlough days will be increased and further layoffs will be implemented.

It is a violation of our contract for the union to officially support job actions or walk-outs and you will not get any information from them regarding such activity, they will firmly deny any involvement in such activity  ;)
